The challenge behind any visual identity and branding project is huge. We always try to feature these projects here on Abduzeedo because they show the difference of solutions and the subtleties of the design solutions that make them standout. Now imagine if you had to redesign the logo of one of the largest comic book publishers? That’s why we would love to share with you some images from the DC Comics rebrand, a beautiful work done by Landor Associates with Michael Lin art direction.
We know that this is not new, but we realized we haven’t posted about that yet.
DC Comics is defined by characters and stories. With a strong comic book heritage, the brand wanted to expand the reach of it’s stories across a broader range of media. The identity captures the dual identity of the characters and reveals worlds of boundless storytelling. It is living, ever-changing and adaptive to the superheroes and story lines. It unveils a world where the dark, the optimistic and the supernatural coexist.
Very few brands have touched as many generations around the world as DC Comics. In light of the rapid technological advancements and myriad ways to consume content, the company’s goal was to ensure that the DC Comics brand was perceived as multimedia and not solely as a print publication. – Landor Associates
The new identity represents more than the well-known characters and stories of the DC Entertainment brand. The dynamic visual graphic reveals a world of boundless storytelling—a world where the iconic, the optimistic, and the heroic coexist. – Landor Associates
